Charged
17, Florida
On July 15, 2020, the accounts of Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Elon Musk, Apple, and Uber posted the same thing: send bitcoin and we will double it. An old fraud with the most expensive loudspeaker in the world.
Twitter later explained that the attackers tricked employees and entered internal support tools. About 130 accounts were targeted. About 45 tweeted. The take was modest for the spectacle: around $120,000.
The Justice Department charged three people. The lead, Graham Ivan Clark, was 17 and lived in Tampa. He pleaded guilty. This was not an intelligence service. It was a voice on the phone and an admin panel with too much power.
The case aged better than the tweet. If support can publish as the president, support is the product.
