Salt Typhoon: the Chinese campaign inside U.S. telecoms
MedellínSoftware · Medellín, Colombia
Researchers and allied agencies describe a years-long campaign against Verizon, AT&T, and dozens of carriers. The target was metadata, routes, and the ability to follow anyone on the network.

Salt Typhoon does not come in through the user's screen. It comes in through the carrier's router. For years, a group attributed to Beijing sat inside the backbone of U.S. telecommunications and in more than eighty countries.
The FBI confirmed at least two hundred companies affected. AT&T, Verizon, Lumen. The take was not only the content of a call. It was the map of who speaks to whom, from where, and which lawful intercept orders existed. An intelligence file on the state itself.
In 2024, phones from presidential campaigns sat inside that perimeter. The public advice was blunt: move to Signal, to apps the carrier cannot read. That, in a country that built its power on the same networks.
The film is not explosions. It is cold rooms, logs nobody read, and access measured in months: named victims, and an APT moving inside a network core.
